The 10 yard container in Fort Lauderdale

The 10 yard is the one we send when the job is one room, one garage, or one weekend. It is the shortest container we run, so it fits the driveways that the bigger boxes cannot — compact 1950s lots in Oakland Park, townhouse driveways, the tight corner lots east of Federal Highway. The trade-off is volume: fill it with drywall and cabinets and it is full fast.

Where the 10 yard earns its keep is dense material. Concrete, pavers, roof tile, soil — those hit the weight allowance long before a bigger box would look full, so a 10 yard loaded flat with broken-up patio is usually the honest, cheaper call. Tell us what is going in and we will say so.

Bathroom remodels, garage cleanouts and small roofing repairs

A full bathroom tear-out — tile, tub, vanity, a bit of drywall — sits comfortably in a 10 yard. So does a two-car garage that has been collecting boxes since the last move, or the furniture from a single bedroom. Minor roofing repairs of a few squares fit; a whole roof does not.

Homeowners in Fort Lauderdale also use it for the stuff the monthly bulk pickup will not take: the City's WM bulk service caps out at 10 cubic yards a month and does not take dirt, sand, pavers, concrete or tile, so a 10 yard of busted pavers is exactly the gap it fills.

Heavy material and the weight line

Weight is the limit that matters for this size. Two to three tons is the included allowance; a 10 yard filled to the rail with concrete can run past that, so for all-concrete loads we will tell you to load it level, not heaped, or split it. Mixed household junk never gets close.

Suitability

Is the 10 yard the right size for you?

Rough working figures. Weight, not volume, is what usually decides.

Choose the 10 yard for

  • Bathroom or small kitchen remodel
  • Garage, attic or shed cleanout
  • Broken-up concrete, pavers or roof tile loaded level
  • A few squares of roofing repair
  • Furniture from one or two rooms

Pick a different size for

  • A whole-house cleanout — that is a 20 or 30
  • Full roof tear-offs
  • Loose yard waste from a big lot (bulky, goes in a 20 fast)
  • Anything on the banned list: paint, propane, tires, batteries

Placing a 10 yard container on a Broward County property

It needs about 25 feet of clear, level driveway and a straight run for the truck, and overhead clearance for the lift. On your own driveway or lot in Fort Lauderdale no City permit is needed; in a street or swale the City requires a right-of-way permit from the City Engineer (Engineering Permitting Division, 954-828-6520), and other Broward cities have their own rules — Lauderhill requires a permit even on a driveway. Boards go under the rails as standard. The permit guide covers every city.

Answers

10 Yard Dumpster — questions we get asked

How much space does a 10 yard dumpster need?

About 12 feet of container plus room for the truck to roll it off — roughly 25 feet of straight, level driveway. The driver walks the spot with you before setting it down.

Can I put concrete in a 10 yard dumpster?

Yes, and it is usually the right box for it. Load it level with the sides, not heaped, so it stays under the weight limit and can be lifted safely.

How long do I get it for?

The standard rental is 7 days. Call or text before pickup day if you need longer and we extend it at a small daily rate.

Is it the cheapest option?

For a small job, yes. If you think you might fill it and then some, a 15 or 20 yard costs less than a second haul — say what the job is and we will size it honestly.
