Residential Dumpster Rental across Broward County

Fort Lauderdale housing is varied enough that one container does not fit all of it. Canal-front homes in Las Olas Isles and Coral Ridge sit on wide drives with room for a 20; the compact 1950s lots in Oakland Park and Wilton Manors want a 10 or a 15; HOA streets in Plantation and Coral Springs have their own rules about where a box can sit. We have placed containers in all of them, and the first thing we ask on the phone is what your driveway looks like.

Most residential jobs are one of three things: a cleanout (garage, attic, a whole house before a move or sale), a remodel (kitchen, bath, flooring), or storm and yard debris after a bad week of weather. Each wants a different size and a different conversation about weight. The size comparison covers the numbers; the phone call covers your job.

What actually fills a residential container

Garage and estate cleanouts dominate: furniture, boxes, old appliances, the contents of a shed. Kitchen and bath remodels are next — cabinets, tile, drywall, a tub. Then the Florida-specific stuff: a yard full of palm fronds and fence panels after a storm, or a patio of broken pavers the City's bulk pickup will not take.

The City of Fort Lauderdale's WM bulk service collects once a month, caps out at 10 cubic yards and does not accept dirt, sand, pavers, concrete or tile. Anything bigger, heavier or sooner than that is what a residential roll-off is for.

Driveway placement, HOA streets and where the box goes

On your own driveway or private lot, no City permit is needed in Fort Lauderdale. Boards go under the rails to protect pavers and concrete, and the driver sets the container square with the door facing the way you want to load. If the only option is the street or swale, the City requires a right-of-way permit from the Engineering Permitting Division (954-828-6520) — tell us when you book and we will line the delivery up with it.

HOA communities often add their own placement rules, and a few Broward cities — Lauderhill is one — require a permit even for a driveway container. Each city page spells out what the city itself says.

Suitability

Is residential dumpster rental the right call?

The fastest way to get this right is to check the two lists below against what is actually in your pile.

Good fits for this service

  • Garage, attic and whole-house cleanouts
  • Kitchen, bath and flooring remodels
  • Moving, downsizing and estate cleanouts
  • Storm debris and big yard cleanups
  • Furniture, mattresses and bulky junk

Send these somewhere else

  • Paint, solvents, fuel, propane and pool chemicals — Broward's household hazardous waste program takes those
  • Tires, batteries and electronics
  • Asbestos or suspected asbestos material
  • A box that has to sit in the street without a permit

Residential dumpster rental — the Broward specifics

Hurricane season runs June through November, and after a storm the City collects separated piles of vegetation, construction debris, appliances and electronics from the swale — but not bagged debris, not hazardous waste, and not on your timeline. A container on the driveway gets a yard and a damaged fence cleared the week it happens. The storm debris guide covers what the City takes and what it does not.

Answers

Residential Dumpster Rental — your questions answered

Will the dumpster damage my driveway?

Not if it is set properly. Boards go under the rails as standard on paved drives, and the driver will tell you before delivery if a surface looks like it needs more than that.

Can I put the dumpster on the street instead?

In Fort Lauderdale a street or swale placement needs a right-of-way permit from the City Engineer, and other Broward cities have their own rules. The driveway is always simpler.

What size do most homeowners end up renting?

A 20 yard for cleanouts and multi-room remodels, a 10 or 15 for a single room or a garage. Say what the job is and we will size it on the call.

Can I put old appliances in the dumpster?

Fridges, freezers and air conditioners contain refrigerant and have to be handled separately; washers, dryers and water heaters are fine. Ask when you book.

How long can I keep the container?

7 days as standard. If the job runs on, call or text before pickup and we extend it at a small daily rate.

Do you serve outside Fort Lauderdale?

Yes — all of Broward County, from Deerfield Beach to Dania Beach and west to Davie, Sunrise and Coral Springs. Each city has its own page.
